Sakarya University

Sakarya University is a public higher education institution in Serdivan, a district of the province of Sakarya, Turkey. The Sakarya University School of Engineering and Architecture was founded in 1970 and is currently the cornerstone of Sakarya University. After this school turned into Sakarya State Architecture and Engineering Academy in 1971, the institution served as a faculty of Istanbul Technical University from 1982 until 1992. In 1992, Sakarya University was established. Today, Sakarya University, frequently referred to simply as SAU, continues its academic life with 13 faculties, 6 institutes, 2 colleges, and 2 vocational schools, with 29176 undergraduate students, 2993 associate degree students, 5713 postgraduate students, 1298 doctoral students, and 1633 academic staff.

Compared to other universities founded after 1990, SAU has completed its academic and technical infrastructure more rapidly, thus becoming the only state university that has both the "EFQM Excellence Quality Certificate of Competency Level" and the “ISO 9001 Quality Certificate”. With its laboratories, educational programs, social services, internet infrastructure, and innovations in the field of informatics, Sakarya University also serves as a model for many other universities. Today, 18 SAU academicians are on the "List of the World's Most Influential Scientists" prepared by Stanford University.

At SAU, we believe that higher education has the capacity to promote cooperation and substantial economic, intellectual, and cultural impacts on the world. Hence, Sakarya University supports and conducts many national and international projects such as Erasmus+, TUBITAK, and the Jean Monnet Module named "SUSTAINEU."

Our faculty has collaborated with numerous international organizations globally; it has hosted academic and educational events like symposiums, congresses, and conferences for both students and faculty members; it is a faculty with opportunities that encourage and facilitate active involvement in such activities. Our faculty offers several chances for faculty and student mobility because of its various foreign collaborations under the Mevlana, Erasmus, and Farabi programs. It keeps strengthening its connections in these areas with other education institutes worldwide.
