Elif Ayanoğlu Alkaya and Derya Özkarayaka made a presentation titled “Sustainability and Sustainable Schools” for the students of Sakarya University within the scope of the Sustain_EU Jean Monnet Module. The presentation addressed the definition, history, basic concepts and reflections of sustainability and sustainable schools in education. Derya Özkarayaka provided detailed information on international sustainability studies with a special focus on European Union’s Sustainability Agenda and contributed to students gaining a global perspective. Elif Alkaya provided information on sustainable schools, which are the most important reflections of sustainability studies in education, and created a productive discussion environment with students through application examples and case studies. At the end of the event, students gained detailed information on sustainability and sustainable schools and the effects of such studies on a sustainable future.
