Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adem Tekerek, who works at the Computer Engineering Department of Gazi University, Faculty of Technology, and is a member of our project team, made a presentation titled “The Role of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Sustainability.” Tekerek, who discussed the contributions of digitalization and artificial intelligence technologies in achieving environmental, economic and social sustainability goals in his presentation, emphasized the critical role of these technologies in energy efficiency, resource management and reducing carbon footprint. Participants learned how artificial intelligence applications are put into practice for sustainability with real-life examples, and also gained comprehensive information about the opportunities and challenges offered by digitalization. In the second part of the presentation, digital platforms and artificial intelligence applications used in sustainable schools were discussed with students. The presentation created awareness about the strategic importance of technology in building a sustainable future, while also enabling an interactive discussion between students and educators.
